5 Favorite Psalms For Comfort And Protection

5 Favorite Psalms For Comfort And Protection

The book of Psalms in the Hebrew Bible is generally a collection of hymns, prayers, and poems. With King David writing almost half of the book of psalms, I wanted to share some of my favorite Psalms that I pray when I need comfort and protection.

I read from the King James Version.

1. PSALMS 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul:

he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:

thou anointest my head with oil;

my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

This is one of my favorite Psalms to pray when I feel down and out. This is a Psalm of David.

2. PSALMS 25:4-5

Show me thy ways, O Lord;

teach me thy paths.

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me:

for thou art the God of my salvation;

on thee do I wait all the day.

This a beautiful Psalms for protection and guidance. This is a Psalm of David.

3. PSALMS 27:4

One thing have I desired of the Lord,

that will I seek after;

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to behold the beauty of the Lord,

and to inquire in his temple.

Whenever I pray this Psalm, I feel an overwhelming presence of The Lord around me. It is a beautiful Psalm to pray for comfort. This is a Psalm of David.

4. PSALMS 41:1-3

Blessed is he that considereth the poor:

the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive;

and he shall be blessed upon the earth:

and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will

of his enemies.

The Lord will strengthen him upon the

bed of languishing:

thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

This is a Psalm with a promise from the Lord. Here, the Lord promises to bless us as we consider to help the poor. The Lord will protect us from our enemies and preserve us. This is a Psalm of David.

5. PSALMS  91:1-6

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most high

shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord,

He is my refuge and my fortress:

my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,

and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers,

and under his wings shalt thou trust:

his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;

nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;

nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A powerful prayer for Protection. Although this Psalm is breathed and inspired by God, The writer is unknown.
