Tips On How To Keep Skin Hydrated

My favorite season is the Spring when it is not too cold and not too hot – just in-between seasons. However, in the summer season, there is much humidity, and also, with the hot temperature, it is vital to keep your skin hydrated and refreshed, and healthy. In this blog post, I will share five tips on keeping your skin hydrated this summer.

Keep A Simple And Consistent Skincare Routine – I advocate for a simple skincare routine and minimal products usage. An effective skin care routine should not be about how many products you use but the best ingredients to keep healthy skin or treat a particular skincare issue. To keep a simple and minimal skincare routine, your products should be up to three, and these products should consist of active ingredients for your skin need. For example, if you have oily skin, you should opt for products formulated for oily skin; if you have sensitive skin, you should opt for products specifically formulated for sensitive skin. When you keep a healthy skincare routine, it helps you maintain a healthy skin barrier, which keeps moisture in your skin.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated With Water – This is a simple and no-brainer tip, but you will be amazed at how many people skip water for sugary drinks. Opt for water over caffeine or sugary drinks. Water helps to hydrate the skin, cleanse unwanted toxins, allow you to digest your food better, and keep your skin barrier healthy.

Use Ceramides To Maintain A Healthy Skin Barrier – A damaged skin barrier means your skin may be losing water. Ceramides help to hold our skin cells together. You will notice that your skin barrier is damaged when your skin is dehydrated, flaky, stings when you apply skin products, and sensitive and tight. The best way to repair your skin barrier or maintain a healthy skin barrier is to use ceramides for your skin. Most skincare moisturizers add ceramides to their products for this exact reason. When your skin barrier is healthy, it can keep moisture in your skin, making it hydrated and healthy.

Use Hyaluronic Acid To Hydrate Your Skin: If your skin is thirsty, hyaluronic acid is the ‘water’ of skincare products. Hyaluronic acid works like a sponge, and it attracts water from the atmosphere and holds the water up to 1000x its weight. Hyaluronic acid used consistently will keep your skin hydrated, plump, clear. The best part is that you can use this ingredient for all skin types.

Do An Aloe Vera Gel Mask Three Times A Week – The aloe vera plant contains 97% water. Therefore, it is known for its soothing and hydrating characteristics. To keep hydrated and smooth skin, opt for an aloe vera facial mask three times a week.

Mask Recipe

Start with two tablespoons of pure honey and mix in 1 tablespoon of pure aloe vera. The mixture should be easy to spread but not runny. Next, mix in 1/4 tablespoon of ground cinnamon before applying the mask to your face, and relax while the mask does its magic for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly after application. Apply this mask a couple of times a week to keep your skin soft, clear, and hydrated.

These tips are simple, and they will help to keep your skin healthy and hydrated throughout the summer and beyond.
