Black-Owned Skincare Brands To Support

Black-Owned Skincare Brands

Hello, dear friends. This week, I want to highlight a couple of black-owned skincare brands that are unique and deserve recognition.

I have put together a list of brands taking over the beauty industry with their unique expertise when it comes to skincare and beauty. These brands are natural and pay particular attention to the ingredients that they put into their products. Without more chatter, here are my top picks –

1. Nyakio – Nyakio Grieco is the brains behind Nyakio skincare. She is the formulator and beauty curator of the brand. Nyakio hails from Kenya, and she develops her products with all-natural ingredients that are African inspired. Her skincare collection includes firming facial balm made with Tamanu Oil. Coffee Body Scrub made with Kenyan Coffee, shea butter, and baobab oil. Her most sold out is her collection of facial oils – Marula and Neroli Brightening Oil. Maracuja and Yangu soothing oil. Manketti and Mafura Anti-aging Oil.

My favorite product from her collection is their Chamomile Soothing Sleep Mask. This overnight facial mask works through the night and rejuvenate fatigued skin and provides long-lasting hydration. The formula includes chamomile to soothe the skin, calendula to hydrate the skin, and aloe vera for anti-inflammatory. Their products are clean and contain no sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, and formaldehyde.
You can shop for Nyakio products at Ulta and Target.

2. Black Girl Sunscreen – I am excited to find out there is a sunscreen for dark-skinned girls that is natural and does not leave a white cast on the skin. Created in Miami, Florida, Black Girl Sunscreen developed a unique skincare product that is necessary, and for people of all skin shades.
