Permanently Remove Acne Scars
Can you permanently remove acne scars? A simple answer is Yes!! Whether you have old scars or new scars, it is possible to get rid of acne scars and get clear glowing skin.
There are chemical and mechanical ways of acne scars treatment.
Chemical Acne Scar Treatment is using acids such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or mandelic acid. Outside of acids, I have realized that Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin also does an excellent job of removing acne scars.
Mechanical Acne Scar Treatment is using beauty tools or possibly a more invasive method of removing acne scars. Some methods include dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, derma roller, and micro-needling.
Depending on how you want to treat your scars – here are the top 5 ways to permanently get rid of acne scars.
How to get rid of acne scars
1. Chemical peels for acne scars – chemical peels are one of the best methods of removing your acne scars. Depending on the strength of the peel, you can do it at home or get it done at the dermatologist’s office. A chemical peel exfoliates the skin on a deeper level leaving your skin looking smooth and rejuvenated. The most common peel used is the TCA Peel you can also use higher strength 30% glycolic acid or 50% lactic acid.
2. Microdermabrasion – this a cosmetic procedure that can be done at home or at a doctor’s office. Microdermabrasion uses tiny crystals to gently exfoliate the skin by removing dead layers of skin. This procedure renews the skin making it soft and clear.
3. Micro-needling – to treat acne scars with micro-needling the needle length should be selected on the basis of how deep your scars are. The standard needle length used is between 1.5 mm to 2 mm. Micro-needling is the process of using a special needling tool to prick your skin. As you prick your skin, your skin produces more collagen and in turn, helps to fade your scars.
4. AHA/BHA Serums – Using Aha/Bha serums is a less invasive method of fading acne scars. Acids such as glycolic, lactic, salicylic, and mandelic acids work by sloughing off dead skin and in turn fading your acne scars and it will permanently remove acne scars.
5. Retinol/Retinoid- Retinol is a personal favorite of mine to use to get rid of acne scars. I use ’The Ordinary’ Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion. Retinol and Retinoid are the same, but the significant difference is that retinoids work much faster than retinol.
Retinol work by speeding cell turnover. As the old cells die rapidly the new cells begin to grow and in turn revealing brighter, clear skin. It increases the production of collagen.
Last but not least, don’t forget to always wear SPF sunscreen. That’s the best protection for your skin. It helps to prevent hyperpigmentation, fine lines/wrinkles, premature skin aging, and sun damage.
