Successful Life
I will begin this post with a couple of Verses from the Bible.
John 17:3 NIV says, Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Romans 12:2 NIV says, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Matthew 6:33 NIV says, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Joshua 1:8 NIV says, Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Psalm 37:4 NIV says, Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
How Do We Define A Successful Life
These Bible verses if you read them closely, you will find that they all in some way talk about success – now, our definition of success here may not align with the traditional definition of success. Furthermore, we do not measure success by the number of material possessions you own or your attainment and achievements.
On the contrary, we define success based on your relationship with God through Jesus Christ. As Matthew 6:33 says, we ought to seek first the Kingdom of God, and all things shall be added to us – Success is that you have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Living A Surrendered Life To God
Your success in life is that you live your life as a living sacrifice to God in surrendering to Him, running your race, and renewing your mind. Also, seeking God’s kingdom daily through prayer and studying the Word, and as you seek God daily, you begin to grow spiritually and gain heavenly wisdom, which is vital.
Furthermore, James 3:17 NIV says – But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
A Successful Life Is Not About Worldly Possessions
So, in conclusion, we define a Successful person as someone who is in right standing with God, is surrendered to God, and is walking in tandem with God. With that said, when you love God and are walking in tandem with Him – all things are added to your life that you don’t have to toil to receive; God gives those things to you as gifts that you steward – that is, the material possessions people struggle to get—for example, wealth, marriage, home, children, businesses, promotion, etc.
A couple of more Bible verses I want us to look at is
Psalms 127:1 NIV – Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
Proverbs 10:22 NIV – The blessing of the Lord brings wealth,
without painful toil for it.
Blessings Are Gifts We Steward For God
These two verses talk about how God blesses (gifts) us as we walk in obedience to Him. Additionally, for every material blessing you receive, you don’t receive them because you deserve it or have worked hard for it – but because your Heavenly Father decided you need them to live life here on earth.
Jesus tells us about how God takes care of His own in Matthew 6:25-34
In conclusion, when you come into this knowledge, materialistic possessions will not define your success, but knowing that you have a covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ is what will define your success.
